Sapana Coffee

Why I like it: Coffee is one of the most chemically treated crops in the world, making it a food with one of the highest amounts of pesticides. I’m highly sensitive to most coffees due to toxicity levels that come from overall poor coffee production practices, but Sapana makes it easy for me to enjoy a cup while knowing I’m also supporting families and communities in Nepal at the same time.

Description

Sapana Coffee partners with Elevate Nepal, Inc., a charitable organization supporting sustainable communities in Nepal’s rural villages. 100% of the proceeds from each bag of Sapana Coffee goes toward funding these humanitarian efforts. Sapana’s coffee beans are cultivated in the Himalayan Mountains, resulting in a clean, crisp and distinctly unique flavor.

ENI co-founders, Anthony Mancini and Dan Maurer, visited their first Nepalese coffee farm in 2011. Since 2018 they have been importing Sapana coffee to the U.S. to share with specialty coffee connoisseurs. Coffee farming is a relatively new industry in Nepal, and Anthony and Dan work with farmers to learn about coffee cultivation that supports ethical, environmentally-friendly sourcing, transparency, and traceability of their product.
